Design House Colombia - NIDO DE ALTA TIERRA
Inspired by the mist-covered páramos that surround Bogotá - where fog brushes over frailejones and time seems to stretch - Nido de Alta Tierra reimagines a nursery as a quiet sanctuary. Conceived as a space to welcome new life, the project pays homage to Colombia’s highland landscapes: humid, silent, and deeply alive. Grounded in a thoughtful, place-based perspective, it offers an environment for contemplation and connection - where design doesn’t impose but instead nurtures: it listens, breathes, and protects.
At the heart of this space is fique, a natural Colombian fiber with deep roots in traditional craftsmanship. It brings lightness, texture, and durability while infusing the room with a sense of care - an embrace of local knowledge, sustainable practices, and handmade processes. Present in objects, furniture, and surfaces, the material forms a subtle yet persistent thread that ties the space to the land itself.
A palette of warm creams and soft earthy tones wraps the room in gentle light, translating the coolness of the páramo into something maternal and enveloping. The designer strikes a balance between playfulness and poetry, weaving botanical references and landscape-inspired forms into quiet, tactile gestures. The result is a space that invites slow growth - in harmony with nature and the rhythms of life.
